Aa yaa India.....!!

I watched the brilliance of Dhoni as a keeper to get Hall run out, cheating him to get the wickets down.
I watched the opposition batsmen struggling to hit the boundaries in the last over.
I was pretty impressed!!

Then I continued to be hooked to the channel, in spite of constant pressures from mother to shift to her favourite serial.
I watched Indian batsmen stumbling…still continued with it…
It was getting late at night…I chose to watch it completely….
I knew that off late they have been playing pathetically, but still had some hope of a turnaround…

Wickets fell like the drops of a monsoon rain..sudden and in a flash.
It seemed as if they were in competition to get back to the pavilion faster….
Dhoni hit a six..and another boundary..I was cheerful..
I was struggling to be awake…Rubbing my eyes....
I knew I had to get up early for my daily exercise…I still chose to watch it..

There again started the competition…One fell..after another…
Tried to keep my eyes open, but couldn’t do it…and so because of my spirit of watching the game dying.

It was past 1AM the next day and I had to call it quits.. And yeah I did; realizing I must be up at 5AM again.

Morning 5AM, my alarm rang, I stopped it and said oh! Not so sooon, and slept back.
When I looked at my watch it was 7:30 already…and time to rush for the work…
Blamed myself for being lazy and headed for the wash.

Now…when I usually get up late…I behave so crazy that I end up spending twice the amount of time for doing same thing than a normal day…and a being of dullness…oh! That’s disgusting…
So one full day wasted!!

When I think of it all….I sacrificed my good sleep….I sacrificed my early morning Jog…I sacrificed my music practice…I sacrificed my whole day’s active being…and so on… One day of mine is sacrificed for the team that didn’t do well..And I'm sure that there are millions who would’ve done the same across the country…Millions of days wasted…!

After all these, there's one un-answered question :
Is our cricket team really worth our sacrifices??

I'm the first this time!

Me thinks you must rename the post as Ga yaa India!

What a waste of time and other resources....

Srik, please do not forego precious sleep for the sake of 11 fools who are taking the country and everyone's time and hope for granted.

Seriously we need a rethink on these great demi-god Cricketer's status and their contribution to the nation.

Vani,

Thanks for the comment. Yeah I now know what is more important. A cricket victory in South Africa or even on Moon can not replace the contentment of a good sleep, and sticking to the early morning routine.

At least I have decided not to miss any of these personal things for the sake of cricket, after all.
I'd better play cricket than watch the fools do it.

Srik: Good post... somehow I knew you were dreaming ... My son, a big time Cricket Fan now prefers to watch Tennis and Football...

I agree with Vani's comments 100%

LOL...

Lot better for Nikhil.

'coz in both the games, India doesnt play and we literally dont need to get attached so much. So..we can enjoy the game better, un-biased and can try playing the same with joy!!

Srik said...

oh reborn,
better late than never..
Lets all try realising it soon. Thanks to Chappels and Rahuls, they are making us do it ASAP...!

Not fair, if I dont like something, I just dont do it.. why are you bringing a bad publicity on these 11 fools srik? Unfair! ;-)
It was YOU who spoiled you day & you are blaming on those 11 people again.. This was the punishment for not allowing your mom to watch her favourite serial ;-) ;-)

I forgot to add this,
hande aagabeku hallu muribeku.. continues!

Awwwwww.............

Let's see.......I get all pissed off and swear that I will NEVER ever watch or follow again, when India starts losing really bad. That resolution never holds.......it's happened from past several years. I still end up watching / reading about and analyzing cricket.

So, there MUST be some magic in the game, at least as far as I amc oncerned. I sooooo hate the way we play when we lose (not coz we lost, but the way we play and give up the game is atrocious sometimes). I still love the game.

The fact that my wife is a BIG sports fan helps. Yeah, I know she's weird ;) (I haven't seen too many Indian girls who follow F-1 and Golf and Rugby and Cricket and Football as passionately).

From th past one week a lot of us have been continuously discussing cricket so much that I am still NOT fed up. I always start off with "I don't want to discuss cricket anymore", but well....

P.S : We are going to be in the World Cup semis, take my word, don't lose heard. Dravid is THE dude !!!

...and an update..I spent the last half hour chatting with a friend of mine about cricker....from WORK !!!

yeah, how can we NOT live with cricket ? I know I am shallow.... ;)

Good post :) And my answer is of course - NO, it is not worth it :D

Srik said...

Veena,
LOL..DOnt be unfair to me..
I am not ill publicizing cricket here... I just said "I better play cricket than watch the official Indian cricket team play it"!!
I am a die hard cricket fan and might stay the same, but sometimes get pissed off because I end up spennding so much time and energy in a dud performance..!

I will make sure that I am not missing my habits because of 'our' cricket team.

Hange aagabeku... U've been unfair to me teacher :-(

Shruti,
Yes, I agree to your words, My sacrifice and my country men's sacrifice is not worth it. But there must be some sort of sacrifice from those who are representing us in the game, and I'm curious and ready to sacrifice another few days to watch if they do it ;)

Oh DS,
Hmmmmmmm what to say...we spend a night to watch the game, a day to comeout of its hangover, a few days in analysing the same, and some more days discussing the same...
And after all these...we are still waiting for them to let us down with their match fixings..and poor runs...and individual advertisement assignments..!!

India needs more professional cricketers.. As far as your wife's sports prema...I see so many women in India now playing and turning to sports unlike old times...Its a good thing infact..so as there wont be any war inside the house for the TV remote when a game is on ;)

and HAHAHA you and your friend...LOL...so one hour is wasted(sacrificed ;)) again on Indian cricket team!! Thats something not unusual, so donn worry...
I mean most of us are SHALLOW..!

Thanks all for the comments :-)

All,
and yeah...some of you suggested me changing the title to Ga ya India..
Hmmmmm I'd better change it this way...

"Ga ya Cricket and Aa ya India"!!! LOL..

Instead of all this, why don't you pratice some good cricket & play in Indian team & udaara maadalla.?
Watch that movie Iqbal by Nagesh kukunoor! Amazing thought! Lagaan too...
Sacrifice is too big a word Srik.. jeevana kandilla innu neevu!

Srik said...

Veena,
Yeah I loved Iqbal as well as Lagaan too.
But if I myself have to become a cricketer of National level, now I need to do so many sacrifices other than just waste a day and discuss it further...
And it requires more of patience, money, time, good wishes and LUCK!!
If we get one, we have to forget other...and soo....Im giving too much of explainations..

well..rather I can just say, Im happy with my little sacrifice(;)) for this sake, 'coz I cant make much bigger sacrifices..

Forgive me, Im using the word sacrifice too often, 'coz I donn want to say I wasted so much on cricket. I want to take away some honours as well ;)

I won't say anything now.. Atlast you are another man.. just like my brother & just like my husband.. sometime I have heavy arguments for this word CRIB.. I hate that to the core & they love it.. may be just to tease me & provoke me .. You are doing no different isn't it?

Srik said...

And thats how I argue and start troubling my sister ;)

Good post Srik.

I used to be an avid follower of cricket too. In fact, I was even among the probables for the Gujarat state u-16 team selection for Ranji trophy. However, my coaches had chosen to lie about my age, which was 16 years and 5 months and not under 16 as required, thus lost out when the selection officials asked the coaches to provide the birth certificate. Until this happened, I was in complete dark about all this.

Anyways, coming back to cricket, I got a bit disenchanted when the match fixing controversy erupted. Football which was always a passion since watching Maradona in 1986, has taken cricket's place - the absolute sport for me. I know people often say match fixing happens in football as well, but I am happy in my blissful ignorance, for not at least.

Srik said...

OI,
Good to know that you play cricket so well.

Yes, match fixing and the recent doping scandals have made cricket ill-popular. Thats a good thing according to me, as most of other games are taken with interest now a days in India, especially hockey.

All these things happen in foot ball in much larger proportions, as I read somewhere. But yeah, we need to look at a game as a game itself, should not think about anything else.

Can u post the original Gujrati saying? just curious to twist my tongue in Gujrati for a change. I really like these things :-)

the original saying goes something like:

"jaanvu nahi ne daazvu nahi"

OI,

Thanks :-)

Now I know Gujarati :-)
